How Vuity Works?
Allergan’s Vuity (pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution 1.25%) is for once-a-day dosing in adults with mild to moderate presbyopia.
“Pilocarpine acts by two mechanisms,” explains Dr. Chu. “It constricts the pupil in a dynamic way and has a small effect on the ciliary body muscles. That’s the dynamic pupil modulation process.
“Secondly, pilocarpine stimulates the ciliary body to constrict, which can also create some improved reading vision,” he says. “This effect is more prominent among younger presbyopes (around 40 years of age) since these patients may still have some ciliary body muscle effect.”
In simple terms, there is 2 ways the eye drops work, first it reduces the pupil size and the ingredient pilocarpine helps to stimulate the eye muscles to be active. So with this 2 function, it helps user to see clear for far and near vision.
